Dr. Alex MurrayDr. Alex Murray BKIN, DC

A graduate of the University of British Columbia (Bachelor of Kinesiology) and the University of Western States Chiropractic College (Doctorate of Chiropractic) is a chiropractor at Point Grey Chiropractic in Vancouver, BC and Spring Medical Centre in Burnaby, BC. During his time at UBC Dr. Murray played for the varsity football team where he endured multiple injuries. While there he encountered chiropractic for the first time with great results!

After this positive experience,  Dr. Murray has focused his chiropractic skills to help patients not only recover from short term injuries but to also prevent future injuries and maintain long term health. Having worked multiple sporting events including marathons and the USA junior Olympics Dr. Murray has developed a background in treating athletic related injuries. Graduating with honours (magna cum laude) and clinic honours, Dr. Murray incorporates an evidence based approach to treatment using the latest research.

Dr. Murray treats a variety of areas from head to toe using a combination of spinal adjustments, stretching, soft tissue massage, exercise and ergonomic advice.

Chiropractic Treatment- The style of chiropractic Dr. Murray utilizes is a more aggressive approach aimed at improving function along with decreasing pain. Muscles are treated along with bones and joints. A typical treatment will involve deep tissue massage, active stretching (patient helps move the body part), passive stretching (the doctor moves the body part for the patient), adjustments/manipulations ("cracking!" This helps the spine move into proper alignment and allows increase movement), mobilizing (more gentle form of adjustment when the patient can't handle the "crack") and home exercises.

Why Chiropractic? - Chiropractic care allows for a more individualized treatment as the manual therapy required varies based on the patient's specific characteristics. Most patients benefit from chiro treatment and many use it in combination with various other disciplines (eg. Physio, Massage etc.). The amount of treatment varies on each patient with health, age and nature of injury taken into account. There is no "one size fits all" methods when it comes to Dr. Murray's treatment methods.

Dr. Murray has extensive experience in treating the following areas:

Neck, mid/upper back, low back, shoulders, elbows, hands, ribs, knees, ankles, feet, jaw pain

Muscle injuries- Hamstring pulls, IT Band pain, plantar fasciitis, TMJ pain, rotator cuff injuries
